What it does

Enrolment and licensingA one-time token connects a new box. From then on it checks in daily and receives its licence — applications, end date, support level. A Lite installation becomes a commercial one without a reinstall.

Signed applicationsA catalogue of applications each box may install, delivered by the cloud and verified on the box against our signing key. A compromised server still cannot make a box install anything.

WatuOS updatesSigned update packages, offered to the boxes they fit, installed on your schedule, and rolled back automatically if the box does not come back healthy.

Encrypted off-site backupEncrypted on the box with a passphrase your own administrator chooses. We store material we cannot read. Ten copies kept per box, within the storage you pay for.

Health you can seeCPU, memory, storage and application health for every box, so an engineer knows a disk is filling before it fills — without ever seeing a record inside it.

Built for your teamSales representatives see and activate only their own clients. Support engineers see every box's health. Finance see licences, storage and billing. Every change is logged with a name.

SMS and payments Bought and used inside the applications themselves — a WatuHRM or WatuVisitor client tops up SMS credit there, and messages stop when credit runs out. Watu Cloud does not sit in the middle of them.

Connected to WatuCRM

Our sales team runs WatuCRM on their own computers. With a personal key made in Watu Cloud, WatuCRM turns the sale into the installation and the installation into the renewal.

1. WonA deal moves to Closed Won; WatuCRM reminds the representative to set up the box.

2. TokenFrom the company page, one press creates the client in Watu Cloud and issues a one-time enrolment token.

3. InstalledThe engineer connects the box with that token. Its health and licence show on the CRM company page.

4. RenewedForty-five days before a licence ends it becomes a task, and a renewal deal is one press away.

The key acts as that person, with their role: a representative's WatuCRM sees only their own clients, enforced by Watu Cloud rather than trusted to the laptop. A lost laptop's key is revoked in one click.

Outbound only

The box never accepts an inbound connection from the internet. There is no port to forward, no remote desktop waiting, no standing credential held by us. Everything the box does with the cloud, the box starts — and if Watu Cloud is down for a week, every box carries on. Only licence changes and off-site backup wait.

Data locality In normal operation your data never leaves the box — not a student name, not a salary figure. Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act 2022 makes an on-premise system a simpler compliance story than a foreign cloud. Confirm your own specific obligations with a Tanzanian legal advisor.
